ABC’s of Becoming a Christian
• Admit- Admit that you need a right relationship with God.
Pride keeps us from doing some of the most important things in life. Don’t let your pride keep you from THE most important thing in this life and the next!
Rom 3:10 (NLT) No one is good—not even one.
Isa 53:6 (NKJV) All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
Rom 3:23 (NLT) For all have sinned; all fall short of God’s glorious standard. -Rom 6:23
▪ Are you good? How good? See how you do against The Ten Commandments.
• Believe- Believe that God’s Son Jesus Christ is the way to God.
John 14:6 (NKJV) Jesus said. . . “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
▪ Jesus claimed to be the only way to God- not Islam, Buddhism, Mormonism. He is not one among many. It is Jesus only and He unashamedly makes this claim that no one else does.
John 10:30 (NAS) “I and the Father are one.”
▪ Jesus claimed to be the Son of God. Others claim to be prophets, teachers, religious leaders, but only Jesus claims deity. And you must decide whether He is liar, lunatic, or Lord.
• Confess- Confess your sin to God and accept His forgiveness.
Everyone of us chooses to live our lives like we want to, taking charge, ignoring God, pleasing ourselves. That’s what separates us from God. That’s why we need His forgiveness.
1 John 1:9 (NKJV) If we confess our sins, [God] is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
▪ Not only must we confess/agree with God concerning our sin, but we must make Jesus Lord of our life, letting Him take control.
Rom 10:9 (NLT) if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
• Declare- Declare your decision to others..
Whenever something good happens to us, we can’t wait to tell others. What God has done for us in His Son Jesus Christ is life’s most important decision. We need to share it with those closest to us.
Mat10:32-33 (NAS) Everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.
▪ One of the best ways to do this is through believer’s baptism.
• Express- Express your faith daily as a fully devoted follower of Christ .
Following Jesus Christ means learning to live life His way; letting Him show you what to say and do.
Luke 9:23 (NKJV) [Jesus said] If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.
