What to Expect
Maybe you are returning to church, or coming to church for the very first time. Or, maybe you’re an active church member who just moved to town and needs to find a new church home. Whatever your story may be, you probably have a lot of questions before you visit Mountain Park First Baptist Church.
Here’s our attempt to guess what’s on your mind and answer your questions. If we’ve missed something, let us know. You’re probably not the only one with that question, so asking us will help us help you and future guests.
What is your Sunday schedule?
Our corporate worship service is at 10:30 am. Some of our groups meet on Sunday mornings at 9:15 am prior to our corporate worship service while others meet off campus throughout the week.
What do I wear?
You’ll see people in everything from shorts to suits on Sundays. Our concern isn’t what’s on the outside, but what’s on inside. Come as you are. Besides, Jesus accepts us as we are when we come to Him. Why shouldn’t we?
Where do I park?
We set aside reserved parking for guests in our parking lot — just follow the red line when you come on campus and it will take you to guest parking. Parking lot attendants will help you find our Welcome Desk or any class you are looking for.
Is there anything for my children?
Of course! We have Sunday options for newborns through middle school, including special times of worship designed just for the younger kids. For example, we have a separate time for the children in grades K-4 to worship in an age-specific environment during our corporate worship service. Those children wishing to attend will be dismissed during the regular corporate worship service, but feel free to keep your children with you if you are more comfortable with that. Our children’s ministry page provides more detail about what’s available for all children, no matter what their age may be.
Do I have to give an offering?
No, not unless you want to give. We believe that the church is supported by the tithes and offerings of its members. As a visitor, you are not expected to participate in giving.
What is the invitation time at the end of the service?
We offer a time at the end of each service for people to be able to respond to whatever God is dealing with in their lives. It might be a time for personal prayer, a specific decision about which you would like someone to counsel you, or it is at this time when people are encouraged to join the church. For more information about joining, see the icon labeled “Membership.”
I want to get connected. How can I find a group?
Take a look at our online listing of groups. That could give you some idea as to where you might want to go. On Sunday, stop by the Welcome Center in the Main Foyer . A Team Andrew member can show you a listing of groups, including a map of where each one is located. Believe us — our goal is get everyone into a group, so we’ll go out of our way to help you get connected.
In the church I grew up in, some people had “their” seats. What if I unknowingly sit in somebody’s seat?
Don’t worry about it. Sit wherever you want. Nobody has a claim on a seat. In fact, we’ll even let you save seats for your family and friends!
